A profusion of wild plum trees
and a small stream running through
a peaceful valley is where American
Indians, English, French, Swedes,
Swiss, Irish, Germans and Norwegians
came to settle. The Moser family
arrived in 1856 and gave the
settlement its name ~ PLUM CITY.
The entire
region that is known as Pierce
County, leading from the mouth
of the Chippewa River north
to the headwaters of Plum Creek,
was the home of the Eastern
Sioux Indians. This section
was a great trapping and hunting
ground. To this valley also
came the Chippewa Indians. Prior
to 1686 there were several Indian
wars between rival tribes because
there was better hunting west
of the Chippewa River. Part
of the Village of Plum City
was established during the French
occupation. The French took
out large quantities of furs
through the St. Croix waterways
to Lake Superior and up to Montreal.
The early settlement surrounded
the natural spring pond which
existed in a primitive state
during the 17th Century and
which continues to exist and
flow creating a serene natural
setting to this day.
In our peaceful
little valley, we have a variety
